During the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Games, the Croatian national team will, for the first time, use the outfits prepared by 4F. In X days, the athletes will wear them at the opening ceremony. The sportsmen’s success, their attitudes, and national colours, have inspired 4F designers to create a unique collection.
A COLLECTION TAILORED TO SPORTSMEN’S NEEDS
Several dozen designers worked on the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Games collection, under supervision of Ranita Sobańska and in association with the Croatian Olympic Committee, with which the individual items of the collection were consulted as early as at the design stage. The collection is dynamic and based on national colours, whereas the design refers to the coat of arms, which is part of the national flag. The collection has been prepared for the athletes. It is monochrome and soft toned. It was inspired by Croatia’s coat of arms, composed of a red and white checkerboard. The collection’s dominant colour is red, but it is overridden by block shapes, geometry, and whiteness of the checkerboard. It is the first Olympic collection prepared for the Croatian national team. For the collection prepared for Croatia, we wanted to combine two aspects, namely respect for tradition and national symbols and the strength of the athletes, who, in the eyes of their fans, are made of steel,” says Ranita Sobańska, Creative Director, 4F. “Their determination enables them to achieve top performance while delivering tremendous excitement to us, the fans,” adds R. Sobańska. The athletes’ incredible perseverance and spirit are reflected in the medals, of which Croatia’s national team won 16 at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
BEYOND TIME
Using state-of-the-art technology, the designers developed outfits which ensure durability and top quality. After all, Olympic outfits must withstand harsh conditions. Laser cuts and welded seams guarantee durability and comfort. “The items in our collection leverage modern technology so that the athletes are provided with top-quality outfits. In addition to functionality, we have also focused on appearance, and, frankly, we believe we have managed to create something timeless. The collection uses national colours and is dominated by white and red. We have also referred to the checkerboard, which is part of Croatia’s national flag,” says Igor Klaja, President of the Board, OTCF S.A. “The cooperation with the Croatian Olympic Committee has resulted in an excellent winter collection for the athletes. I hope that this year’s Olympic Games will abound in medals for Croatians, just like in 2016. Our outfits will not only make it comfortable for the athletes to win the medals, but also look fashionable when receiving them,” adds I. Klaja.
